Privacy policy
1. Who we are
cropdot is a web tool for making LinkedIn carousels, available at cropdot.com. In this policy “cropdot”, “we” and “us” mean the people who run it. For anything about your data, write to support@cropdot.com.
2. The short version
- We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
- Your carousels, posts and the images you add are saved in your browser, not on our servers.
- Text you send to be written into a carousel goes to Anthropic, and voice recordings go to OpenAI, only to produce the result.
- Signing in uses your Google account. Your name, email address and photo are kept in a session cookie, not in a database.
3. What we collect and why
- Your account. When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address and profile photo. We use them to sign you in and to show your account in the app. They are kept in an encrypted session cookie in your browser; we do not keep an account database.
- What you create. Topics, slide texts, posts, images you add and your author details are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They reach us only in the cases below.
- Writing requests. When you ask cropdot to write a carousel or a post, the text you entered passes through our server to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns the draft. We do not store the request once it is answered.
- Voice input. If you dictate, the recording passes through our server to OpenAI's transcription API, which returns the text. We do not store the recording.
- Usage. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and a few actions, such as pressing “Get early access”. It works without cookies and records the page, the referring site, the browser, the type of device and the country, not who you are.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records requests to the site, including IP address, browser and time, to keep the service secure and to find errors.
“Get early access” does not ask for your email address: pressing it records an anonymous event, with the page or site you came from, and remembers in your browser that you pressed it.
4. Who handles data for us
- Vercel hosts cropdot and provides the analytics.
- Google handles sign-in when you choose to sign in with Google.
- Anthropic writes carousels and posts from the text you send.
- OpenAI turns voice recordings into text.
Each of them handles the data under its own terms and privacy policy. Anthropic and OpenAI state that data sent through their APIs is not used to train their models by default; they may keep it for a limited time to prevent abuse.
5. Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in cookies keep you signed in and protect the sign-in from forgery. They are needed for the app to work.
- An analytics opt-out cookie stops analytics from counting visits from a browser. We set it in our own browsers so that our visits do not distort the numbers.
- Local storage holds your carousels, posts, author details, your coin balance and whether you pressed “Get early access”.
We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Payments
cropdot does not take payments yet. If we add paid plans, we will update this policy before they start and name the payment provider that handles card details. We will never see or store full card numbers.
7. How long we keep it
- The session cookie lasts until you sign out or it expires.
- Local storage stays until you clear it. Clearing your browser's data for cropdot deletes your carousels for good; we cannot restore them, so export anything you want to keep.
- Writing requests and recordings are not stored by us.
- Technical logs and analytics are kept by Vercel for a limited period under its retention rules.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including in the EU and the UK, you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use, to receive a copy, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Most of your data never leaves your browser, so you can remove it yourself: sign out, clear the site data for cropdot in your browser, and remove cropdot from the apps connected to your Google account in its security settings. For anything else, write to support@cropdot.com; we answer within one month.
9. Children
cropdot is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Data outside your country
Our providers are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there, under the safeguards they offer for international transfers, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your data is used, we will say so on the site before it applies.
